11 days to go: The second trophy’s 11 outings

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia is moving nearer and nearer – with only 11 days to go! Amongst now and the beginning of the World Cup, we will investigate an alternate measurement from the historical backdrop of the competition every day. 

 When the Jules Rimet Trophy was given over to Brazil at the 1970 FIFA World Cup to check their third triumph in the opposition, FIFA authorized another Trophy for the tenth World Cup finals in 1974. 

Estimating 36.8cm tall, the Trophy has been held high up 11 times from that point forward. Ruling champions Germany have their hands on the brilliant statuette more than some other group amid this time, raising it three times in 1974, 1990 and 2014. Brazil (1994, 2002), Italy (1982, 2006) and Argentina (1978, 1986) have all won it twice, while France (1998) and Spain (2010) have each been given the Trophy once.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy stays in FIFA's ownership at unsurpassed and can't be won inside and out by a nation. The present Trophy is made from strong 18-carat gold and weighs precisely 6.175kg. The base contains two layers of semi-valuable malachite, while the underside is engraved with the year and name of each FIFA World Cup victor since 1974.
